MIDI Fusion (Ableton Effect Rack)

MIDI Fusion is a chord generator capable of producing lush jazzy chords with a single key press! I suck at piano and I needed a way to actually sound talented, so I cobbled together this MIDI rack. Fusion can receive one or more MIDI notes, and create a chord based on the numbered tones listed below. It will then pick a random octave for each tone using the Range and Bias controls.

You will need some understanding of music theory to make the most out of this rack, but theory is not needed to have fun or to get great results! I've included a .als file which contains some preset chords to play with. Let's go over the controls...

3 ± Choose between minor 3rd, major 3rd, natural 4th.

5 ± Choose between flat 5th, natural 5th, sharp 5th.

7 ± Choose between natural 6th, minor 7th, major 7th.

9 ± Choose between flat 9th, natural 9th, sharp 9th.

11 ± Choose between flat 11th, natural 11th, sharp 11th.

13 ± Choose between flat 13th, natural 13th, sharp 13th.

Range % Controls the width of random chord tones.

Bias ± Choose between equal, lower, or higher chord tones.
