Artifact Compressor (Ableton Effect Rack)
It sounds like a broken bitcrusher/waveshaper, and the onboard time based effects push it to even crazier extremes. Use it on a synth to get raunchy basses and lofi chippy leads, or throw it on some drums for harsh degraded snares and gabber-esque kicks. I think it's an all around great sound design tool, and I hope you find it useful and fun to use.
Silence is almost as important as sound when it comes to this effect so give it chances to breathe. Try feeding it short or quiet sounds that way the unit can focus more on the artifacts surrounding the source without getting overloaded with information. Artifact - Think of this almost as bit reduction. LOUDNESS WARNING
Roof - This is the output volume, but can have a subtle effect on the overall tone. LOUDNESS WARNING
Drive - This adds harmonics to the signal and creates even more artifacts
Base - Controls the amount of harmonics present within the lower frequencies
1 - This is the first effect parameter used to control the various time-based effects. It's function changes with each chosen effect
2 - This is the second effect parameter used to control the various time-based effects. It's function changes with each chosen effect
3 - This is the third effect parameter used to control the various time-based effects. It's function changes with each chosen effect
IV - This switches between the four time-based effects
